Monday Christie and I shove off for our boundary waters trip mentioned a couple posts ago. Several people have asked for some more details on the trip, you can find the map I posted here (or you could just scroll down you lazy fuck). The loop looks a little challenging with one portage that is over a mile long. Christie assures me it will be fine, she once portaged 6 miles to the arctic ocean.
Stats: 4 Days, 28 Miles, 5 Lakes, 3 Rivers, 2 Creeks, 18 Portages, Longest Portage: 340 rods (1 mile)
Gory Details:
We enter at Mudro Lake (#22), head up to Sandpit Lake, down the Range River to Jackfish Bay (part of Basswood lake) on day 1 and camp near the Basswood falls. Day 2 is all Basswood river, including a 340 rod portage and then camping near lower Basswood Falls. Day 3 will include indian rock paintings on Crooked Lake, then down the Horse River to Horse Lake. We will probably camp on Horse Lake or the next one (Fourtown). Our final day is Fourtown Lake back to Mudro and out.
